It’s a day of celebration for many sixth form students today as they open their A level results and find out what two years of hard work has all ben for.

At Buckswood Sixth Form students celebrated another tremendous year of A level results and university placements.

Sixth formers had to contend with the new more rigorous A level examination system, which sees all exams sat at the end of a two year programme of study, but this hasn’t fazed the students and there were some notable individual performances.

Top performers included Flower, who achieved an A*A – Art & Photography, Florence  A*A*B – Arts & English, Neil AAA – Science and Mathematics, Tomiwa AAB – Sciences and Mathematics and Mark A*AA – Economics & Mathematics.

Once again, the excellent results for Buckswood students has ensured entry to some of the UK’s top universities including UCL, Durham, Manchester, York, Exeter, Birmingham, Sussex and special congratulations to Abigail whose exceptional talent was recognised with a scholarship to read Music at City University London.

Co-principal Michael Shaw said: “It has been another really positive summer of Sixth Form results, last month we celebrated our students completing their International Baccalaureate programme and today it has been wonderful to celebrate the success of our A level pupils.

“The fantastic individual results and university placements are reward for the hours of hard work our students have put in over the last two years, combined with the continued and dedicated support from their teachers. A special mention to our Art students who achieved the best results of any subject and is a discipline that goes form strength to strength at Buckswood.”

At Ark Sixth Form East Sussex was celebrating an excellent set of A level results too, with a number of students achieving the top grades.

A member of the Ark network of high-performing schools, Ark Sixth Form East Sussex is set to send two of its students to Oxford and Cambridge University.

Noah Palumbo got three A* in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and is set to take up a place studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, he said: “I’m stunned. I’m really thankful for the help from all my teachers.”

Nadia Daniel got three A* in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and an A in Philosophy and is set to take up a place studying Medicine at Oxford University.

Another student Anisha Fernando, got an A* in Politics and Sociology, an A in English Literature and is set to take up a place studying Law at Bristol University, She said: “I’m really proud of myself”.

As well as success in A level, students achieved exemplary results in vocational exams, BTEC Level 3. For example, Ark sixth form student, Lauren West achieved a number of distinction stars in the Business BTEC course and is going directly into employment.
